Booking.com provides users with the ability to discover, search, book,
and manage travel-related products or services (“Travel Experiences”),
covering accommodations, car rentals, flights, taxis, and attractions.
Our services are designed for seamless accessibility through desktop and mobile websites and applications
(“Platform”), enabling users to book Travel Experiences and supporting a wide range of user needs.
Specifically, our goals are to achieve:
Easy-to-understand content: All visual and auditory information is presented in a way that adapts to user needs.
Easy-to-use interface: Services are fully navigable via keyboard and work seamlessly with assistive technologies.
Easy-to-understand design: Our interface uses clear, concise language, avoiding unnecessary complexity.
Rich content: We ensure compatibility with current and future user agents, including assistive technologies.
To achieve these goals, we have taken the following steps to provide more accessible services:
Text-based descriptions: Providing detailed written information in clear and concise language.
Screen reader compatibility: Fully compatible with major screen readers (e.g., VoiceOver, Talkback, NVDA, JAWS).
Accessibility Rich Internet Applications ("ARIA") use: Implementing ARIA roles and attributes.
Multimedia alternatives: Providing captions, text transcription,
and alternative text for all visual and multimedia content where applicable.
High contrast and scaling: Compatible with adjustable contrast and text scaling settings
and features to serve visually impaired users.
Simplified navigation: A logically clear layout with consistent headings, area markers, and menus.
Keyboard accessibility: All functions are operable via the keyboard.
Help and support: Providing step-by-step content in an accessible format.
Error notifications: Providing clear, descriptive error messages to guide users through troubleshooting.
