When you book a trip, we'll ask you for your name and email address.
Depending on the nature of the booking, we may also need your home address, phone number, payment information,
date of birth, current location (in the case of on-demand services),
whether you are traveling for business, the names and dates of birth of any travel companions,
and any preferences you may have regarding the trip (such as dietary or accessibility requirements).
For flight and certain attraction bookings, we may need to collect more information,
including your and your travel companions' passport or ID card information. This may also apply to online check-in.
When you contact our customer service team, reach out to your travel provider through our platform,
or contact us by phone or social media, we also collect your information through these channels,
including your name and metadata; for example, for phone calls,
we record where you called from and the date and duration of the call.
When you use our platform to search for potential travel bookings, you can choose to save specific travel items to a list,
which we will maintain for you. During or after your trip,
we may also invite you to submit reviews to share your travel experience with others.
When you submit a review on our platform, we collect information from you,
including your name or display name and avatar (if applicable).
If you create an account on our platform, we also store information that you include and manage in your account.
This may include your profile settings, credit card information, uploaded photos, and your reviews.
You can also choose to add details of one or more forms of identification to your account so you won't
have to re-enter this information for future travel bookings.
In jurisdictions that offer verified account identification,
we may require you to provide a copy of your identification (passport or ID card) and a selfie if you
wish to obtain such identification to help us verify your identity.
In other cases, you may also provide us with personal data.
For example, if you use our platform via a mobile device,
you can choose to allow Booking.com to use your current location or grant us access to other details.
This helps us provide you with a better service and experience,
such as recommending the nearest restaurants or attractions, or making other recommendations.
